New Rules – Upcoming Changes in ACH

achSix new Rules changes, five major Rules proposals, in excess of 20 Billion entries and $30 Trillion in payments value will make 2013 another record year in ACH processing. From its humble beginnings decades ago handling direct deposit of payroll and Social Security credits, ACH continues to expand to soon include Medicare reimbursements, P-2-P payments, and certain consumer foreign remittance transfers. The new ACH Security Framework will better formalize the safety and security of the ACH environment, and the final conversions of federal benefit checks to electronic disbursement will continue to add value for our customers. The upcoming IBA ACH Processing and Compliance Seminars will cover these and other issues in the ever-expanding world of ACH processing.

Mark W. Dever, AAP, CAMS, is a Senior Consultant with Professional Bank Services, Inc. (PBS) PBS offers consulting and educational seminars for Bank Compliance Services for the financial industry.  Mark has lectured at regional and national seminars and at graduate schools of banking hosted by various bank associations and national industry groups.  Mark will present the IBA ACH Processing and Compliance seminar on April 17 in Johnston and April 18 in Cedar Rapids.
