One in Six Workers Use Social Network to Find Job

A survey released by Jobvite finds that more that 22 million Americans used social networks to look for employment in 2011. Over 15% say they found a job through social networking websites, including LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter. While more job seekers are on Facebook (84 percent), more report using LinkedIn and Twitter for employement searches. Of the 35 percent with a LinkedIn profile, almost all reported using it for job searches.

The survey also found those who are “super social” or those with 150 or more contacts were more likely to find work. Forty percent of survey respondents are super soocial on at least one social network, the most prevelent being Facebook.
