Several key economic figures are up in Iowa, but many are still trending downward. Through June, year-to-date new vehicle registrations are up 19.1 percent compared to last year. From March 2010 to March 2011, farmland values are up an astounding 20 percent.
During the last year from June to June, housing permits fell 4.8 percent and existing home sales fell .3 percent. Iowa has also seen a loss of jobs with a total loss of 6,400. however, unemployment claims are down 23.8 percent over the last 12 months ending in June. The currently monthly unemployment rate is 6.0 percent for the state.
