The Impact of Facebook

Bank of America Merrill Lynch recently released a survey on the impact of Facebook and the way people are using the social networking site. The survey indicates 96 percent of respondents have a Facebook account with almost 70 percent of users checking the account at least daily. Facebook usage is not diminishing. Over half of the respondents have increased time on the site over the past year, with only 12 percent saying they spent less time.

The survey indicates Facebook is used for recommendations. Users ask friends for advice on businesses, restaurants and events. Most have clicked on a Facebook advertisement.

The survey was conducted with 418 Americans meant to “roughly resemble” the United States population.
