Create a BSA Training Program for Bank Directors

Are you looking for materials to create BSA training for your bank’s directors?

FinCEN has an article for banks to help provide information to Board members on the importance of maintaining a robust BSA Compliance program. This is a great starting point for educating directors, however, you can easily expand it to a training session. For example, you can develop a presentation with the included article and complement it with the PowerPoint presentation from FinCEN on SAR filing in Iowa. In addition to SAR filing statistics and some specific information on mortgage fraud, the slides include “heat maps” for SAR filing in Iowa in 2008 and 2009.

If you would like to expand the session, add your institution’s recent SAR filing statistics. You can also describe how your institution identifies suspicious activity and makes its decisions to “file or not to file.”
